Now that Vilma Santos is returning to showbiz  , she is inevitably being compared and competed with her fierce rival  Nora Aunor .

During the press launch of her new endorsement Angkas on Monday, February 27, 2023, Ate Visa was asked for her opinion on being awarded the Superstar award as National Artist.

Does he hope that he will also be awarded the same award?

Sister Vi said, “If it’s for you, it’s meant for you. If it doesn’t reach you, it’s not meant for you. So, for those who weren’t given it, it’s not meant for them.

“Like Ate Guy’s. So, if I have space there, that time will come for me.”

The Star for All Seasons admits that Ate Guy’s loyalty to them still hasn’t faded, but their friendship and collaboration are more important to him.

In fact, when he heard that Ate Guy was seriously ill, he considered visiting her.

“Even if you say there are rivalries like that, I mean, she’s still a friend.

“In fact, there was a time na sana paplanuhin ko na dumalaw, just to check on her. Pero I think, she’s getting better and I am happy for that.

They say their association with senior stars is still different because they have maintained their good friendship.

He suddenly laughed when asked about the TikTok he was suddenly used for at the previous Valentine’s concert by Christopher de Leon, Tirso Cruz III, and Edgar Mortiz.

“Because these three, like Direk Bobot, Pipo… Tirso Cruz, Yetbo… Christopher de Leon, they’re really my friends.

“That’s why when they had a concert, I really made sure to be there. I didn’t know that I would suddenly be invited to the stage.”

“I told you at first not to do it, ‘Don’t call me on stage, you’re getting away from me!’

“They called me too, so I punched Yetbo. They TikToked me. It was terrible! But I enjoy them. They’re really my friends. True friends!” Vilma said with a laugh.

Now that he and Christopher de Leon will be working together again   in a movie, he is also open to the possibility of working with his former compatriots again.

Nora Aunor, Gina Alajar, Jaclyn Jose, and Bembol Roco will be joining forces in the movie  Pieta,  which will also star Alfred Vargas.

“I don’t mind working again with our senior stars. Like Bembol… Gina Alajar, Jaclyn Jose, Amy Austria, what, eh… I’m excited.

“But at the end of the day, what I’m still looking for is the perfect script.

“Because, our age is no joke now. You know what I mean? It’s not as cute as it used to be, huh?”

“What’s needed at our age now is to look for a good project. Isn’t it? To be of interest to the audience.”

“It’s not that easy, but if there is, I’ll grab it,” said Ate Vi.

One of Vilma’s plans was to make a film that dealt with the life of a Muslim.

“I want to make a Muslim movie. Their culture, you will lay it out. That seems to be one of the things I want to do… that I will do the culture of Muslims. I seem to have excitement about that.”

I still hope that Ate Guy and Ate Vi will work together again in a movie. And I hope that Ate Vi and Shawie (Sharon Cuneta) will also have a movie, as well as Ate Vi and Juday (Judy Ann Santos).

They are the only celebrated major movie queens left — so it’s an event for them to work together on a project!
