Her father is a big inspiration for actress Sylvia Sanchez especially in her showbiz career.
This is even though it abandoned their entire family when Sylvia was only in Grade 5.
“‘Don’t we know that my father abandoned us? I had a ‘Papa, one day… I will be famous.’ And I said to him, ‘You will admire me, you will applaud me, papa,'” Sylvia told Fast Talk with Boy Abunda.
The actress had heard for a long time that her father was in Rio de Janiero in Brazil, but only now did she track down his exact address there.
“I was like, ‘I’m going, I just want closure.’ Dead or alive, I want to see him. If dead, I want to see him just to say ‘Bye, Papa, and I love you and thank you. Because of you, I really persevered,'” he said.
No matter what happens, Sylvia has forgiven her father. This happened when she won her first acting award as Best Supporting Actress at the Metro Manila Film Festival in 1992
. because of you I got it.’ Then I even called. I said I wanted to hug my dad. I didn’t need an explanation from him, just a hug, which didn’t happen,” the actress recalled .
