Sofronio Vasquez on the program, ‘I’m proud to have started with ‘Tawag ng Tanghalan’ because [it] and ‘It’s Showtime’ were the first to believe in me.’
A strong champion’s welcome took place on the fun noontime program It’s Showtime this Monday (January 6).
The Kapuso audience and It’s Showtime family happily welcomed the return of former “Tawag ng Tanghalan” finalist and The Voice USA Season 26 champion Sofronio Vasquez .
In celebration of his victory and return to the country, Sofronio offered great performances with the judges and former champions of ” Tawag ng Tanghalan .”
The audience was further captivated on stage when she dueted with Asia’s Pop Heartthrob Darren Espanto. Nyoy Volante even joined them as they sang the Tagalog version of “The Way We Were.”
The stage got even more lively when Sofronio sang AfterImage’s song “Next In Line” with powerhouse singers Klarisse De Guzman and Yeng Constantino. This was followed by a star-studded performance by Sofronio and other TNT alumnus Marielle Montellano, JM Dela Cerna, Lyka Estrella, Reiven Umali, JM Yosures, and Rea Gen Villareal. Together, they serenaded the Kapuso audience with Elvis Presley’s classic song “If I Can Dream.”
Everyone was left with goosebumps during Sofronio’s final performance with all the TNT judges and champions. Their powerful and inspiring ending number of “A Million Dreams” from the movie The Greatest Showman was a hit.
“I’m proud to have started with ‘Tawag ng Tanghalan’ because [it] and It’s Showtime were the first to believe in me. I promised Michael Bublé that when I get home, It’s Showtime would be the first place I would visit,” Sofronio said in a video.
The international grand winner is also happy to be back on the It’s Showtime stage. According to him, he can’t help but feel nostalgic while performing because this is where his career as a singer began.
“I feel like I’m just reminiscing about every time I audition for competitions. ‘Tawag ng Tanghalan’ was the first thing that caught my attention,” he said emotionally.
Meanwhile, the It’s Showtime family gave heartfelt messages for Sofronio. In recognition of his big win, Ogie Alcasid happily accepted the Special Commendation Award from the Organization of Filipino Singers (OPM).
