Kapuso actress Ruru Madrid talked about the pressure of headlining the Kapuso primetime series Lolong: Bayani ng Bayan.
Ruru is reaping the fruit of his hard work and determination. He is one of the most in-demand homegrown talents now of the Kapuso network.
After his successful performance in the Metro Manila Film Festival 2024 movie Green Bones, as he was hailed as the Best Supporting Actor while his co-star Kapuso drama king Dennis Trillo was the Best Actor in a Lead Role, Ruru starred in a major TV project once again.

In a recent interview, based on the article in The Philippine Star, Ruru Madrid admitted that there is pressure to headline a series that the first season was a success and the rating that it could get.
“Siguro yung pressure naman parang, I guess yun yung hindi mawawala sa atin,” the Kapuso actor said.
He admitted that he is keeping this up. He wanted to somehow feel that pressure in order not to be overconfident that everything is just okay.
“Lagi mong gustong mag-improve, hindi lang sa pangsarili kundi sa kabuuan na bumubuo nitong ‘Lolong,’ na (sinasabi) na lagi may bago tayong maipapakita,” he said.

Ruru also stressed that they are doing this to present a beautiful output for the viewers. He said that they should surpass what the audience saw during the first season in 2022 and that they have to offer something new. For him, the sense of competition must come from their part and it is to do better from what they have done before.
For the second season, Ruru Madrid said that their shoots were much easier this time because they are not in the lock-in taping unlike in 2022. They can move around freely which means that they can present a wider perspective of the story. The cast is also bigger now. Before, they only had 14 cast members, now they have 50.
