Despite Nora Aunor’s condition, the Superstar is still giving her all in her work as an actress.

Superstar Nora Aunor was among those expected to attend the media conference for the movie Mananambal yesterday, February 6. However, she was reportedly unable to attend due to her condition.

Director Adolf Alix, Jr. explained, “We know that Ate Guy’s situation is very sensitive. The doctors have advised him to limit his attendance at public gatherings due to his condition.

“In as much as, of course, he wants to be with you, but because of the situation… If he gets better and is given clearance, maybe he can go to the premiere.

“So, we’re just saving it for the more important event because he’s really just choosing it right now.”

However, Direk said that Nora, or better known in showbiz as Ate Guy, was focused on the live feed of the press conference and extended her greetings to the attending members of the entertainment media.

Although his condition was sensitive, according to Director Adolf, they did not have to adjust anything in the script or the set of the film, which was shot in Siquijor.

Adolf said, “Well, I think this is our fourth film together, so I already know a little bit about Ate Guy’s condition and how to handle the situation, how to work together with the cast.

“The script or the story was not adjusted for him. But we are just aware that this is the reality of the material.”

“Ate Guy is the kind of actor who won’t impose on you that he has an illness or something, it’s not his fault. Even on our set, you can see in the trailer, he’s there in the falls.”

“I mean, she knows the job very well and she knows what to do for the project. When she read the script, she knew what she was going to do.

“They always say to support her, of course, she’s not young anymore. But when it comes to all those things, when you watch the movie, her capacity as an actress is not diminished.”

Powerful actress

Mananambal is the sixth film that Direk Adolf has made with National Artist Nora. They previously worked together in Padre de Famila (2016), Whistleblower (2016), Laro (2016), Kontrabida (2021), and Pieta (2023). Even though they have worked together several times, the showbiz Superstar still has something new to offer.

Director Adolf stated, “Most of my collaborations with Ate Guy were because I was looking for something she hadn’t done before or something she had already done, but now, given her maturity as an actress, what else could she contribute?

“And always, Ate Guy’s strength, as they say, maybe that’s a gift from the Lord, that presence. As a director, we always look for that particular scene…

“Ate Guy sometimes does a very simple scene, but when he does it, it feels like he did something special in the scene, even if he’s just sitting there or sometimes looking at his co-actor. If you tell him what the character is thinking, sometimes he’ll joke, ‘I don’t think I can do that,’ and then he’ll laugh. But when the camera rolls, you’ll see what you were talking about already there.”

It is said that Nora Aunor also has a different appearance when doing a scene.

She said, “Maybe as a director, that’s what’s unique about Ate Guy, she’s a very instinctive actor. What she feels, that’s what she projects as an actress. That’s probably why they said that she translates the feelings of the character into her.”

In the end, Director Adolf added, “Every movie, he always has something new to show, aside from the power of his eyes that we already know.”
