No Ending: Tito Sotto Denies Receiving Darryl Yap’s Pepsi Paloma Script

Former Senator Tito Sotto recently addressed the news circulating online, clarifying his alleged involvement in the brewing issue surrounding his brother Vic Sotto and the controversial filmmaker Darryl Yap.

On X (formerly Twitter), the politician and TV host addressed the rumors that he and his brother Vic Sotto supposedly received and read the movie script of Yap’s yet-to-be-released The Rapists of Pepsi Paloma, the biographical drama film about the late ’80s sexy actress Pepsi Paloma, prior to the release of its first teaser trailer last week.

Tito Sotto wrote, “Not true. False. They gave a script to Vic del Rosario, not Vic Sotto. Vic nor I (have) ever read their script,” referring to the big boss of Viva Communications.

Tito Sotto also expressed his dismay with the people and some media outfits for allegedly sharing inaccurate information. Tito Sen noted, “You should find out first if what you are reporting is accurate or not. Nakakahiya kumagat sa showbiz gimmick, mainstream pa naman kayo.”

Tito Sotto concluded his thread post with the statement that Vic Del Rosario turned the script down, implying that the top movie producer refused to bankroll the movie project.

After the release of the movie’s teaser trailer, wherein he was explicitly implicated as the person behind the the rape of Pepsi Paloma, Vic Sotto filed 19 cyber libel cases against Darryl Yap for allegedly violating the Data Privacy Act in his released teaser of the film The Rapists of Pepsi Paloma.

As his name was mentioned in the teaser, Vic Sotto reported it was done without his consent and it maliciously sent out misleading information about him.

“I also felt that my right to privacy was being violated because this rape accusation is NOT TRUE and the dissemination of this wrong information is fooling a lot of people,” the TV host said.”Since Daryl admits that the subject of the case is the case filed by Pepsi Paloma against me, he is without a doubt processing my sensitive personal information. What is worse is that he maliciously and purposefully left out the fact that the said case was already dismissed because it’s not true.”

Darryl’s legal counsel, Atty. Raymond Fortun countered that his client sent a copy of the film’s script to Vic ahead of the teaser’s release.

“The purpose was really for them to give comments dun sa script, so wala naman po. Ilang beses po na nag-follow-up si Direk Darryl na tungkol dun until finally na shoot na lahat ng mga scenes, so hindi na namin kasalanan ‘yun,” the attorney stated.

On January 13, Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court (RTC) released a gag order regarding Vic Sotto’s Petition for Writ of Habeas Data. It was written, ” Respondents asserts that the verified return to be submitted involves an unreleased film and seeks to prevent any public disclosure of its contents to preserve the sub judice rule…”

” The Court finds merit in the motion of the respondent.”

The supposed hearing of the petition has been moved to January 17.
