KC Concepcion honored her mother, screen veteran-singer Sharon Cuneta, who turned a year older on Monday.

Concepcion turned to social media to share her heartfelt message for her mother, who she described as “my first best friend, my first valentine, my secret Santa, my first idol, [and] my one and only.”

“We’ve been through a lot together, but like a sunflower, you always manage to turn towards the light… And now, you show me how to do the same 💛 I love you, my beautiful Mama. Happy birthday!!! ⭐️ @reallysharoncuneta,” Concepcion said.

In the comment section, Cuneta also left her short but sweet message for Concepcion.

“Thank you, my baby. I love you. ❤️,” Cuneta wrote.

In her most recent Instagram update, Concepcion uploaded a throwback video which showed her playing drums while singing “Mr. DJ” and happy birthday song for Cuneta, the country’s Megastar.

Concepcion shared that it was taken in the 90s at ABS-CBN’s recording studio.

“Welcome to the ABSCBN recording studio of the 90s, where Mom and I would have our ‘dates’ once a week (while recording sya for her weekly musical variety show, bitbit nya lagi ako cuz former clingy girl talaga that little KC girl 😆) 🎙️ Even if I was too shy to perform, this was all for you, Mom,” Concepcion wrote.

Last December, Concepcion shared that she was ending 2024 right by having a conversation with her mom. She also shared her hope that everything would be okay between her and Cuneta.

In August 2023, a rumored rift in Concepcion’s family circulated online after she unfollowed her sister Frankie and her stepdad, former senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan.

KC is Cuneta’s daughter with Gabby Concepcion. Cuneta married Gabby in 1985 at the height of the popularity of their love team. She was remarried in 1996 to Pangilinan, with whom she has three children.
