Darryl Yap recently addressed the comments of some netizens who kept on saying he already changed the title of his new movie about Pepsi Paloma.
It can be recalled that the director’s movie, #TROPP, became controversial because of the inclusion of a word, considered by some as taboo, in the title. The controversy reached greater heights when its teaser trailer mentioned the name of a well-known Pinoy celebrity.
As regards the alleged changing of the title, Darryl said some movie houses already sent word to him that they wouldn’t be able to include the word in question should they feature the movie in their location.
“The title of #TROPP #TROPP2025 THE RAPISTS OF PEPSI PALOMA has not been changed, there are just some movie theaters in the country that have already said they cannot post the word RAP**** so all they can see is #PEPSIPALOMA,” Darryl said in a Facebook post.
He also lamented the alleged trolls and fake news being directed against him and his latest movie. “I’ve only been in the industry for 7 years, there’s not enough machinery against trolls, fake news, favoritism by the mainstream media,” the director said.
Near the end of his post, Darryl said that no matter what the title of the movie is, whether a word or two would be removed or added, it would always have the same drive, and that is the search for truth.
“The film, whether it has fewer or more words or phrases, only contains one thing—TRUTH,” he said.
Direk Darryl then asked everyone to just wait for the official trailer and the announcement as regards its showing date. “Stay tuned for the Official Trailer and the announcement of when our little film will be released in February,” Director Darryl said.

Recently, The camp of Darryl Yap sought for a gag order against Vic Sotto. It asked the court to prevent the camp of Vic from saying anything about the case. In Bandera’ s report, Atty. Raymond Fortun said that they have already asked the Muntinlupa City RTC. Fortun also said that the director would give an official statement about the incident.
Previously, the director also took to Facebook and addressed “trolls.” It was a post that responds to questions why he was brave, and who was backing him up. The director said that it was not Imee, nor Jalosjos, nor Discaya. He then declared that the controversial Pepsi Paloma movie will be shown in 2025 because it is the 40th death anniversary of Pepsi.
