Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu, who made a name for herself as Shan Cai in the TV series “Meteor Garden,” has passed away at the age of 48.
According to a report by the South China Morning Post, the actress’s family confirmed the sad news.
Barbie reportedly died of pneumonia.
Focus Taiwan shared the confirmation made by Dee Hsu regarding the passing of her actress sister through her agent.
Inihayag nito na, “Our whole family came to Japan for a trip, and my dearest and most kindhearted sister Barbie Hsu died of influenza-induced pneumonia and unfortunately left us.”
Barbie is survived by her husband, South Korean musician DJ Koo, and two children, ages 10 and eight, from her previous wife, Wang Xiao Fei.
The couple separated in 2021 after 10 years of marriage.
In an Instagram post, her “Meteor Garden” co-star Ken Chu paid tribute to Barbie.
On Instagram Stories , the Taiwanese singer-actor posted a solid black photo, and reposted a throwback photo of them at “Meteor Garden,” including himself, Barbie, and Vic Chou, Jerry Yan, and Vanness Wu.
