Filipino-Australian beauty Zoe Honeymann is the new Miss Universe Philippines Quezon City.

She succeeded Cam Lagmay after beating 10 candidates in the pageant held last February 2 at the SM North EDSA Skydome.

“I feel so amazing. It’s unbelievable but I’m so happy right now,” she said.

During the coronation, Honeymann received tremendous support from her family who flew in from Australia, where she was born.

This included her boyfriend, brother, sister, and Filipina mother Carol. Honeymann had an emotional hug with her mom after her victory in the competition, where she aced the swimsuit, evening gown, and question and answer rounds.

“Actually both of my grandfathers, I never met them because they both passed away when I was two years old [but] they always had the dream for me to be Miss Universe while I just wanted to be Miss Philippines,” she shared.

“I just want to live that out for them because they told me so much and I owe so much to them. And of course it’s just a dream to be Miss Universe,” she added.

Her mother, while supportive of the idea of Honeymann becoming Miss Universe, wanted her daughter to finish school.

“I told her to finish her studies first, and then you can spread your wings. Do whatever you like,” Carol added.

Honeymann just finished her studies in Australia with a double degree in Business and Psychology and Human Resources.

She also participated in an exchange program, where she chose to study in the Philippines.

“Her other classmates chose Europe but she chose the Philippines because the Philippines is close to her heart,” Carol said.

Some Filipina beauty queens that Honeymann looks up to are Miss Universe Asia Chelsea Manalo and Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray.

“I do love Chelsea Manalo but of course, Catriona Gray. She’s half-Australian as well,” she said.

When asked for her message to her “kababayans,” Honeymann said: “Salamat po sa inyong lahat. Salamat po sa support niyo. I’m representing Brgy. Tatalon and they supported me the whole way and I’m so, so thankful.”

“Dahil sa kanila, I’m here today. Thank you so much to my family, my friends, everyone that came here to support me.”

Training for the national pageant scheduled for April or May begins immediately for Honeymann.

The next time the pageantry community will see more of her would be at the Miss Universe Philippines press presentation on February 15.
