Called La Mer En Majesté aka “the Sea of Majesty”, the headpiece is adorned in 17 golden South Sea pearls, and represents beauty, harmony, and rarity. The pearls are mostly situated at the heart of the crown, evoking “the glory of a national treasure.”
Dubbed the national gem of the Philippines, the golden South Sea pearl is “a radiant symbol of the harmonious relationship between man and nature, capturing the very spirit of the Filipinos.” Fun fact: The creation of a golden South Sea pearl takes “377 precise steps, 800 divers, and 5 years of dedicated care.” According to a report by Aubrey Carampel for GMA News, the crown is priced at PHP3 million.
