The Miss Cosmo 2024 final took place on the evening of October 5, with the title of Miss Universe awarded to 21-year-old Indonesian beauty Ketut Permata Juliastrid Sari. In addition to the noble crown, the new Miss Cosmo also received a cash prize of 100,000 USD, an apartment, a car and the privilege of using many high-end beauty services.

Miss Cosmo is an international beauty contest founded by Vietnamese people, held in Vietnam for the first time in 2024. Bui Thi Xuan Hanh is a Vietnamese beauty who participated in the contest and stopped in the top 5 finalists.

Immediately after the results were announced, Miss Cosmo’s fanpage was “stormed” with strong reactions from international fans. The cause of this “storm” is said to be that Vietnamese beauty Bui Thi Xuan Hanh surpassed Philippine beauty Maria Ahtisa Manalo.

Accordingly, international fans believe that the Philippine beauty deserves to be in the top 5 more and this result shows that “the organizers of Miss Cosmo 2024 are unfair”.

The number of negative reactions on Miss Cosmo 2024’s fanpage reached tens of thousands of people along with countless opposing comments. The contest was even called a “cooking show”. In the beauty industry, this term is often used to refer to a beauty contest that lacks professionalism.

In response to the fan page of Miss Cosmo 2024 being in an uproar, the new Miss Cosmo 2024 shared: “I don’t think I have to tell them anything. I just need to show them that we have had about 3 weeks of competition and are being watched and observed every day. If we didn’t show our full potential and try our best even though our legs are aching or we want to sleep in bed all day but make up some excuse, we wouldn’t be here. What I learned from Miss Cosmo is not to say anything and just keep going every day. I just want to say that we all have our own competitive efforts. I don’t think about underestimating other people’s stories. Instead, think of their victory as something to be cherished. For me, this will be the last beauty pageant I will attend. I came here as a runner-up, I am very proud of myself and my journey. I don’t think anyone can make me feel ashamed of that.”Before coming to Miss Cosmo 2024, Philippine beauty Maria Ahtisa Manalo was 1st runner-up – Miss International 2018, 2nd runner-up – Miss Universe Philippines 2024.
