In the latest episode of *Lutong Bahay*, a cooking talk show on GMA Public Affairs, Ruru Madrid made some surprising revelations in her chat with host Mikee Quintos. Ruru shared a story about her childhood and how she courted Kapuso Primetime Princess Barbie Forteza.

While they were busy chatting happily, Mikee asked Ruru about a part of her past, which had to do with her first attempts at love.  “Who did you flirt with or who did you date?”  Mikee asked Ruru. Ruru immediately answered, admitting that she herself was the one who flirted with Barbie when she was young.

“I was only 14 or 15 at the time, Barbie [Forteza],”  Ruru said.  “I was 14, I flirted with her. I did it, I gave her slippers. I didn’t know her size,”  she added.

Ruru explained that the slippers she gave Barbie were a special gift.  “Because I remembered my uncle coming from abroad, and he brought home slippers,”  Ruru said.  “Of course, since the slippers are quite expensive, I said, ‘This is my wooing gift.’”

According to Ruru, Barbie accepted her gift of slippers. But what she didn’t expect was that it wasn’t the right size for the actress.  “The slippers I gave her were too big for her. As in, only half of her foot was in the slippers,”  she said.

This is where Ruru comes to the crux of her story, and connects it to the reason why Barbie “basted” her.  “Then, that’s the reason why she basted me,”  Ruru recalls the unpleasant incident between her and Barbie.

Although Ruru’s story is funny, her honesty is still evident in revealing unexpected details from her youth. Her simple act of giving slippers as a sign of courtship, which seemed like a “big mistake” because of the wrong size, gave way to a story of failure in love life. However, the story also gave satisfaction to the viewers because of Ruru’s openness and naturalness in revealing parts of her past.
