Cristy Fermin has once again given her opinion on Darryl Yap’s new project that deals with the life of Pepsi Paloma. It can be recalled that aside from the title of the film, its teaser became the subject of intense discussion when the name of Vic Sotto, a well-known personality in the industry, was mentioned. According to Cristy, it seems that the director no longer knows what is right and wrong in what he is doing.

According to Cristy Fermin, if Darryl Yap considers the steps he took to be right, they don’t know what else could be considered wrong. In her statements, Cristy asked the director why he released a teaser with clickbait. ” What was your purpose in doing that? What was your addiction? What was your motive? And who was your producer?”  Cristy added, full of doubts about Yap’s intentions.

According to Cristy, these types of methods only damage a person’s reputation.

“What can you be proud of? When people remember what you do. That is trampling, destroying the character of your fellow man. That is the hardest thing to answer. Who else will trust you?”  Cristy asked the director.

He pointed out that it is difficult to explain how this will help Darryl Yap’s credibility, especially since this type of project seems to only aim for controversy, and not a meaningful message.

Cristy added that such projects only cause disunity and misunderstanding among people. “Who else would trust you when your work is like that? When your only goal is to destroy the character of others?” Cristy asked, saying that this is a challenge that Darryl Yap must answer.

Cristy expressed her disappointment with Darryl Yap’s projects, particularly those that feature controversial issues and the names of famous people. According to her, it is not enough for the film to generate attention and controversy; the messages conveyed to the audience must be valuable. If the director’s goal is to gain attention using the names of famous people, she said, it is unfair and unbecoming of someone who cares about the film industry and the people behind it. 

Nowadays, it seems that Darryl Yap’s style of distributing and producing films has become controversial, and this is no longer new in the eyes of the public. However, Cristy Fermin expressed her opinion that this is an unfair way of treating people and the issues that the films want to convey. Cristy points out that it is not always right to follow the usual practices to get people’s attention, especially when it leads to a violation of correct principles.

Like other critics, Cristy emphasized the responsibility of directors and producers to ensure that there is quality and care in every project they release to the public. This way, they can gain credibility and respect from their audiences, and not just grab attention through controversial and unwelcome means.
