A sneak peek at Ruru Madrid’s new cast in ‘Lolong: Bayani ng Bayan’
The action drama series Lolong: Bayani ng Bayan, starring Kapuso primetime action hero Ruru Madrid , will return in 2025. And in the new installment of the series, the action is leveled up even more and there are more enemies to face.
“He won’t just face one or two villains here, but many,” said Ruru in an interview with Aubrey Carampel during the media con of Lolong: Bayani ng Bayan for 24 Oras on January 13.
But while Lolong will have many new opponents, he will also have many new allies who were introduced during the media con. Some of Ruru’s companions will return to the series, while others will play new characters.
The addition includes John Arcilla , Jean Garcia, Martin del Rosario, Paul Salas, Rocco Nacino, Rochelle Pangilinan, Nonie Buencamino, Leo Martinez, Nikki Valdez, Mikoy Morales, Rodjun Cruz, Klea Pineda, and many others.
“He’s actually bigger in a way, and at the same time the cast is bigger. Before, the main cast was only around 12 or 14. But now, I guess we’ve reached 50 plus,” said Ruru.
Aside from Ruru, Lolong’s love interest Elsie, played by Shaira Diaz , will also return . Their love story will be followed in season 2 and some questions will also be answered.
Shaira’s story will show the maturity of their characters in the upcoming season 2 of Lolong, and what happened to them several years after the first episode of the series.
“Elsie here is a teacher, Bokyo here is a police officer, Lolong is given different jobs so it’s funny because the writer didn’t forget to include that, the growth of our characters,” said Shaira.
Meanwhile, preparations continue for Ruru and the rest of the cast, who have re-trained in Filipino martial arts to further highlight Filipino culture.
“We will prioritize what is ours and that’s what I want to share with the youth of today, that we have this and we can be proud of it,” said Ruru.
Shaira added that viewers will be “more visually satisfied” because of the breadth of the story that can be explored.
