The Miss Cosmo 2024 finale ended on the evening of October 5 with many controversies surrounding the final top 5 results.
Xuan Hanh caused controversy when entering the top 5 of Miss Cosmo 2024
Accordingly, Indonesian beauty Ketut Permata Juliastrid Sari was crowned the highest position. The Miss Cosmo 2024 runner-up position belonged to Thai beauty Mook Karnruethai Tassabut. Vietnamese representative – Bui Xuan Hanh – stopped at the top 5, along with the Peruvian beauty and the American beauty.
However, Xuan Hanh’s achievement in the top 5 of Miss Cosmo 2024 was met with much controversy. The audience thought that she was favored by the organizers because she was the representative of the “host” country. Meanwhile, the representative of the Philippines – Ahtisa Manalo – was highly appreciated at the contest but could not be named in the top 5. 
Sharing her feelings after being crowned, Xuan Hanh said she was very happy and surprised when her name was called into the top 5. The beauty was quite satisfied with this result, because the contest had many outstanding contestants.
In response to the controversy about being favored and getting a high ranking, Xuan Hanh responded: “Actually, I read these comments before. To get the top 5 result, the contestants had to work hard through many previous rounds.
I was lucky to have the opportunity to present the community project “Small Wheel” at the contest. And when I shared about the project, I felt that the judges were very interested, so I think this was one of the factors that helped me get into the top 5″.
The beauty added: “My purpose in coming to the contest is to spread my community project. After the contest, I will continue to outline a new direction, constantly developing.
Because I know that to become a representative of Miss Cosmo, it is not only about “beauty” but also “impactful beauty”. Although I was in the top 5, my project has not reached many people and I promise that after the contest, I will focus and start working immediately”.
In response to the controversy that she was not as worthy as the Philippine beauty, Xuan Hanh said: “I think, to choose the top 5, the judges had to monitor and evaluate a long journey. Along with that, there was also the element of luck as well as the suitability with the criteria of the contest.
I am Miss Cosmo Vietnam 2023, so I think this is also an advantage for me to enter the top 5 of Miss Cosmo 2024”.
What did the organizers say?
Responding to the controversy that the Vietnamese representative was favored by the organizers, the Head of the Miss Cosmo 2024 Organizing Committee – Mr. Tran Viet Bao Hoang – shared: “The results come from both the process and the evaluation of the jury. We have an independent scoring software and are audited by an audit unit to ensure transparency for the contest.
To bring this application into the contest, the organizers had to work very carefully with the judges. Because when they put their name on the program, it means they put their reputation on the contest. Therefore, this result is very fair to what the candidates show, not just anyone.”
When asked about the Philippine representative stopping in the top 10, causing outrage, Mr. Tran Viet Bao Hoang said that as an organizer, he would respect any choice of the judges. The head of the organizing committee emphasized that all contestants made efforts for the contest.
“If we only ask about the case of the Philippine representative, it would not be fair to the remaining contestants. The contestants in the top 21 and top 10 all made great efforts. Backstage, I met the contestants and told them that if I had enough crowns, I would give them all to them,” said Mr. Bao Hoang.
The head of the organizing committee of Miss Cosmo 2024 commented that the Philippine representative is a beautiful, sweet girl. Coming from a beauty powerhouse, Ahtisa Manalo came to the contest with enthusiasm and seriousness.
“However, the remaining representatives such as Indonesia, Peru, Vietnam… also performed their best. Yesterday, we practiced the program until 3am and I saw that everyone was determined, so I don’t want to share any candidate’s story,” he added.
