MANILA, Philippines – Vietnam’s Huỳnh Thị Thanh Thủy won the Miss International 2024 crown during the glittering finals night held in Tokyo, Japan on Tuesday, November 12.
Huỳnh Thị Thanh Thủy bested 70 other candidates and became the first Miss International winner from her country and the 62nd Miss International titleholder in history.
“…I’m the first Miss International from Vietnam. Finally, I can prove that I deserve all the love and support from my audience and fans from Vietnam and around the world. Thank you so much,” the Miss International 2024 said during her first message as the new titleholder.
Miss International 2024’s court includes:
1st runner-up: Bolivia’s Camila Ribera Roca
2nd runner-up: Spain’s Alba Perez
3rd runner-up: Venezuela’s Sakra Guerrero
Philippines’ Angelica Lopez, Binibining Pilipinas International 2023, failed to make the first cut, falling short of the top 20.
Miss International is among the oldest pageants in the world, and belongs to the so-called “Big 4,” the collective term used to refer to the four biggest pageants in the world. These pageants are Miss Universe, Miss World, Miss International, and Miss Earth.
Huỳnh Thị Thanh Thủy is Vietnam’s second winner from the “Big 4” pageants after the victory of Miss Earth 2018 Nguyễn Phương Khánh.
A pageant based in Japan, Miss International is known for its advocacy in promoting goodwill and the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals. The first Miss International titleholder is Colombia’s Stella Marquez-Araneta, the current chairperson of the Binibining Pilipinas Charities Incorporated, which holds the annual Binibining Pilipinas pageant.
Binibining Pilipinas International 2024 Myrna Esguerra will compete in next year’s edition to vie for the Philippines’ 7th Miss International crown. – Rappler.com
