MANILA — The 130 candidates of this year’s Miss Universe pageant dress up for the annual Gala de Las Catrinas in Mexico.
Wearing their glamorous dresses, the candidates walked down the red carpet to celebrate the cultural tradition of Mexico, where they welcomed the day of the dead.

Among the candidates was the Philippines’ Chelsea Manalo, who dazzled in her black beaded dress patterned with a big hat and the traditional face art that symbolizes the tradition for the dead.
Manalo wowed not just the Filipino pageant fans but the fans supporting her around the world.
On social media, the official makeup artist of the organization shared a reel on how he transformed the Filipina beauty for the celebration.
Manalo is aiming to become the Philippines’ fifth Miss Universe titleholder after Catriona Gray (2018), Pia Wurtzbach (2015), Margie Moran (1973), and Gloria Diaz (1969).
The 73rd Miss Universe competition will be held in Mexico on November 16. The pageant will be shown live on ABS-CBN’s Kapamilya Channel, A2Z, Metro Channel, and iWantTFC on November 17.
