Catriona Gray has frequently showcased local bags on her social media
Former Miss Universe Catriona Gray truly is doing the work advocating for Filipino products as she showcases yet another Filipino-made bag on her social media.
In one of the more recent posts on her Instagram account, Catriona uploaded multiple photos of her with Calli bag’s Beatriz tote. Made with genuine leather and Yakan weave from the tribe in Basilan, the Beatriz tote is sold on the Calli bag website for P9,850.
On their official Instagram account, Calli thanked the beauty queen for featuring the bag and sharing it with her followers.
Catriona is just one of Calli’s celebrity fans. Back in July, Gabbi Garcia brought an Amaia Vida handbag from Calli to a pre-GMA Gala dinner. The bag is made from natural acacia wood and retails for P12,500 on the Calli website.
This also isn’t the first time that Catriona has showcased Filipino products on her social media. Back in April, Catriona brought a bag from the fashion brand Gustoko with her to Australia. Gustoko is a Portugal-based business ran by Filipina Paula Figueras. Established in 2012, Gustoko employs Filipino artisans that make bags out of local plants like buntal and abaca, as well as sabutan, raffa, and jute.
While the bag Catriona has with her is no longer sold on the Gustoko website, fashion blog Chic Every Week said the bag used to be sold for €225 or P14,178 based on current exchange rates.
Last year, Catriona took with her a Curba mini in sea foam made by local bag designer Amina Aranaz. Made from hand-bent rattan with a t’nalak pouch insert, the bag is priced at P5,100 on the Aranaz website.
Aside from showcasing local products on her social media, Catriona has also been known to champion local destinations with her #RaiseYourFlag advocacy.
