Miss Lebanon 2024 Nada Koussa encountered a tense situation with the Miss Universe Organization (MUO) just days before the competition took place in Mexico.
According to the MLFC site, the incident started when a video spread on social media, including a scene of two figures from the Miss Universe organization, Mr. Osmel Sousa and transgender billionaire Anne Jakrajutatip, making mocking comments about a photo related to Miss Lebanon.
Immediately, LBCI Television (the copyright holder of Miss Universe in Lebanon) sent an official letter requesting the removal of the video and demanding an apology from the organizing committee for Nada Koussa.
MUO’s initial response did not include an apology, leading Nada to withdraw from the competition. However, the organizers later sent an email clarifying that the video did not represent the views of the organization, and issued an apology and confirmed that the video had been removed from social media. MUO also pledged to issue a direct apology to Nada.
After receiving positive feedback from the organizers, Nada changed her mind and decided to travel to Mexico on 31/10. Upon arrival in Mexico, she will be greeted by MUO leaders and receive a public apology from Mr. Osmel and Ms. Anne.
Nada Koussa shared on her personal page: “My journey to Mexico City for Miss Universe starts tomorrow! Tune in to LBCI tonight to hear the story behind my first flight cancellation!”.
Three weeks ago, Nada said she was proud to represent Lebanon at Miss Universe and make sure her country’s voice was heard. She would focus on mental health and share with world about what the country is going through, while reminding people of the beauty, history and unmatched spirit of the Lebanese people.
