Suzette Doctolero, the series’ writer, took to social media to share the exciting news. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), she wrote: “Two weeks extended ang [Pulang Araw]. 110 eps. Salamat sa mga nanonood nito.”
Initially set to air its finale on December 13, the series will now run until the end of 2024.
Set during the Japanese Occupation, ‘Pulang Araw’ tells the story of four childhood friends whose lives are reshaped by war. The series explores themes of resilience, liberation, and hope while delving into the struggles and triumphs of Filipinos during one of the country’s most challenging historical periods.
The show premiered on Netflix on July 26 and made its television debut on GMA Prime on July 29. It airs every weeknight at 8 p.m.
Following ‘Pulang Araw’s’ conclusion, Ruru Madrid’s much-awaited comeback series, ‘Lolong: Bayani ng Bayan,’ is rumored to take over the primetime slot in early 2025.
