It was a warm welcome along the sunset strip for Miss Universe Philippines 2024 Chelsea Manalo.
Manalo, who will represent the country in this year’s Miss Universe in Mexico City, has been in Los Angeles the past week, acclimating to the weather while getting a balance of training and relaxation.
“They say jet lag is one of my challenges but I don’t feel it. Actually, I’ve been sleeping really good,” she said. “I’m always excited for the day. I’ve already been around LA. I’ve been to Venice beach, I’ve been to Malibu, it’s really nice to be in these places. I’ve also met some Filipinos and they’ve been so nice to say hi to me.”
Manalo attended a party organized for her by Binibining Pilipinas International-turned-Emmy-winning producer Lisa Manibog Brennan.
She also met with Bb. Pilipinas Universe 1978 Jennifer Cortes, who competed in Mexico, as well as other Filipinos in the fashion, pageant, and entertainment industries.
“It’s really welcoming… Everyone is so nice,” said the beauty queen.
While in Los Angeles, Manalo also visited the O Skin Med Spa and its founder and owner Olivia Quido Co, who is part of the Miss Universe Organization as vice president for global partnerships.
As she counts down the days to the Miss Universe pageant, she remains calm, continuing to find more confidence.
“Now it gets a little bit more real, now that I see these people who will be in Mexico to support me,” Manalo said.
“I don’t feel the pressure… I’m more excited na because I have so much support,” she added.
